As we were heading out of San Francisco we had to make one more stop at Blue Bottle Coffee.

New Orleans iced coffees all around!

And some of the best Eggs Benedict I have ever tasted!

A couple of detours on the way to Pismo Beach…the Google Complex.

Nerd Alert: Steve Jobs Garage

Instead of driving all the way home we decided to stay the night in Pismo Beach at the SeaCrest Resort.

I was bummed that it was super foggy and we could barely see the water!

After a quick Yelp search we decided to have dinner at Cracked Crab where Matt proceeded to draw his dinner…

It was a nice end to our road trip!

Our next vacation can’t come soon enough!

Day four of our trip started with a search of Four Barrel Coffee. I love my Blue Bottle, but Four Barrel was pretty awesome! We both ordered iced coffees that were out of this world good.

We watched them roast the beans while we sipped our coffee.

Time for more sightseeing…

Then lunch at Magnolia!

I was super jealous of Matt because this place has so many cask beers! I love cask beers and I will have to go back someday!

And then we were tourists again…

No trip to SF is complete without a stop at Ghiradelli!

For our last night in the city we dined at E’Tutto. THE most amazing dinner ever!

The third day of our road trip started off with my favorite thing…Blue Bottle Coffee Co! I seriously need one of these near me.

Matt and I each ordered a New Orleans iced coffee. Amazing.

After coffee we headed into San Francisco. We took a detour to get some shots of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Next up was Sausalito for lunch. We stopped at a place called Hamburgers. Looking back, I do believe this marks the beginning of my hamburger cravings!

Then it was time for more exploring and more photo ops.

I love driving over the Golden Gate Bridge!

Time to check in to our hotel. I found a great deal online for the Clift Hotel in San Francisco. It was a nice hotel and we would love to stay there again. As with most hotels in SF, the room was small though.

After check in and a little rest we decided to head out for more exploring. We started with a trolley ride to the wharf and Pier 39.

Our traditional snack at Bubba Gump’s on Pier 39…peel & eat shrimp! (that was Matt’s beer)

More sightseeing…

It was COLD!

The last stop of the night was for Matt…Rogue!

He was super excited.

Jess and Wes were married on 10-10-10 in Oakland! They had a really fun wedding and we are so happy we got to attend!

Our very good friends Jess & Wes were married on 10-10-10! We were over the moon happy for them and excited to attend their amazing wedding in Oakland. We decided to make it a true vacation and planned a fun road trip. I initially planned our trip around brewery tours and tastings; however we found out that we were pregnant just a few days before our trip. Sooo, we I had to quickly come up with some different activities that I would get to enjoy as well, but I still kept a few fun stops for Matt.

The plan for day one of our trip was to drive up to Salinas with a lunch stop and brewery tour of Firestone Walker on the way.

Firestone Walker is located in Paso Robles and was really cool! I can’t comment on the taste of the beer, but it smelled amazing!

I think Matt enjoyed his sampler!

I decided to stay in Salinas rather than Monterey because it was cheap and I knew we would be staying at expensive hotels later on in our trip. Bad idea. Our hotel was gross and there is absolutly nothing to do in Salinas. At least I found a restaurant and brewery to have dinner at.

The next morning we couldn’t get out of that hotel quick enough, so we booked it to Santa Cruz for breakfast. Thanks to my superb navigation and Yelp searching skills I was able to find a cute place to have breakfast. If you are ever in Santa Cruz go to Walnut Avenue Cafe for breakfast…you can thank me later.

My Eggs Benedict were fabulous.

And so was Matt’s strawberry waffle!

After breakfast it was back on the road to Oakland. We booked a room in Jack London Square at the Waterfront Hotel. Our room wasn’t quite ready when we arrived, so we explored the area a little…

We even stopped for super spicy Bloody Mary’s! (Virgin for me!)

We were ready to crash once our room was finally available! We napped then got ready for the big wedding!!

Stay tuned…

This year for our anniversary we wanted to take a mini trip, but weren’t sure where to go. We decided that we wanted to keep it within a 3-4 hour drive from our house. I checked out our options and basically came up with Santa Barbara, Hollywood or San Diego. We really just wanted a place to hang out…whether it be at the pool or beach. However, the weather forecast wasn’t looking promising for a coastal adventure.

So, I continued to rack my brain for ideas when it suddenly hit me…Palm Springs! That is one place we had never spent much time and it was supposed to be SUNNY and warm. This is when I started researching places to stay. My only real requirement was that it must have a nice pool area. I found and fell in love with a Marriott that has an awesome pool and even a water slide; however it came with a $200 per night price tag. Then I came arcross the Riviera Resort and Spa. From the description and photos on there website I didn’t think we could go wrong to quickly made reservations. The hotel is newly renovated and fabulous…and it was only $99!

The pool area was awesome and came complete with a bar. One of my favorite things was that I saw 1 child the entire time we were there. Not that children are bad but I didn’t want to hear little brats yelling “Marco Polo” during my mini vacay! Our room was pretty nice. We were on a corner with a pool view!

We pretty much lounged by the pool all day, even having lunch poolside. Oh and several cocktails. OK, fine…I had a few cocktails too many and had to spend an hour in the room alone with the toilet. But then I eventually made it back to the pool.

We shared a flat iron steak and lobster mac n cheese for dinner in the lounge. There was actually a DJ in the lounge, so we got to listen to some fun music as well.

On our way home we stopped by Tyler’s Burgers, which I can’t recommend enough! We shared a cheeseburger and a strawberry malt…both were so fresh and tasty!

Wow, I haven’t posted in over a month! Bad girl!!  So, what have we been up to? Well, we went to Vegas Memorial Day weekend and saw our good friends, Tracy and Anton, get married on a Harley.  Yep, they drove through The Little White Wedding Chapel on the Harley.

The official wedding is coming up soon…in Puerto Vallarta!! They had to make it legal in the states, so they decided to do it while we were visiting.  Others in attendance include the brides brother and his wife.

I got to play Maid of Honor, which basically meant I got to carry Tracy’s crap around in my purse all night! But I didn’t mind because I’m nice like that. She also shared a ginormous cocktail with me.

Congrats Tracy and Anton! We are so glad that we got to be apart of your (un)official wedding!

On Saturday morning Matt and I headed to the desert (Ocotillo Wells) to celebrate his dads 60th birthday!  The Wedeking’s never miss a good party!  We headed out around 7:30am and arrived at camp shortly before 10.  Right after our arrival at camp we had an unfortunate accident…the truck and trailer jack knifed and now we have a nasty dent in our pretty truck.  Oh, the trailer made it without a scratch.

Saturday afternoon I hung out at camp with our nieces while Matt went on a ride.  We usually take tons of pictures, but for some reason we ended up with only a handful…so no pics of our afternoon. But you can see this shot of the beautiful Jello shooters I made!  I think I ended up with about 75 of these babies!

The real party started Saturday night.  Aaron and Velinda brought out a caterer, so we enjoyed some carne asada for dinner.  For dessert we had the cupcakes I made!

The rest of the night we were busy enjoying the party.

Oh and Matt shot off some firey tennis balls with his air launcher.  I will do a separate post about the air launcher!

Sunday morning Matt taught me how to ride his motorcycle! I had some encouragement from my nieces. Maddie said, “Michelle, it’s really just like riding a bicycle” and Ros said, “Come on Michelle, you can do it”.  So, I didn’t really have a choice.  Unfortunately, the pics are BLUE! Somehow the camera setting got changed and we didn’t realize it!

By the time Sunday morning rolled around I really wasn’t feeling well.  My headache started out small but grew worse throughout the day.  But I managed to power through it.  Tracy and Anton hosted a fun Super Bowl party at their place.  I helped a little bit and made my artichoke dip and wrapped the gifts for the prize wheel.  (I ended up winning a cute football tray!) One of Tracy’s friends baked a cake shaped like a stadium, so she got to decorate it!  It turned out really cute!

I had planned to take more photos during the party, but my body wasn’t having it!

We left their house on Monday morning, happily missing the Sunday night traffic! We made our traditional stop at Freed’s Bakery before leaving town.  They have the best cakes!  We got 3 slices to go…Oreo Cheesecake, Carrot Cake and Strawberry Wedding Cake!  All were delicious as usual!!

Oh and I ate some Funjuns.  Really.

On Thursday afternoon Matt and I decided that we needed a trip to Vegas.  We figured we could leave Friday after he got off work and come home on Monday.  So, I packed our bags and loaded up the car while Matt was at work and within an hour of him getting home we were off. Surprisingly, traffic wasn’t as bad as we were expecting and we arrived in about 4 hours.  We crashed at Tracy and Anton’s place, which isn’t too far from the strip.  It was our first trip to Vegas where we didn’t stay on the strip, but we got to hang out with some great friends!  Tracy and Anton have completely remodeled their entire downstairs and it looks amazing!  Anyways, Friday night we pretty much just hung out and chatted with our friends.

Tracy and Anton had plans on Saturday to finish up their crown molding with her dad, so Matt and I were on our own to hang out.  We decided we’d do the usual and wander around the strip.  We parked at Caesar’s Palace and had our first drink, which turned out to be too pricey.  So, Matt headed back to the car and grabbed a bag of mini bottles I had been saving for a rainy day.  Man, this blog post is going to make it seem like we have a drinking problem and I cannot confirm nor deny the allegations.  Anyways, we ended up finding a vendor that had Red Bull’s, so we bought one and added our own vodka.

At this point we figured it would be a good idea to actually eat something and headed over to Margaritaville for a snack…OK, and more drinks.  We found our spots at the bar, which just happened to be the same seats we sat in the last time we were there.  We started with some drinks and nachos. Then it was time for our tradition..I asked the bartender to make us shots of her choosing.  After she consulted with her co-workers she made us a concoction of pineapple, sour apple pucker and vodka.  My favorite kind of shot because it didn’t taste the least bit like liqour!

Later we walked around the strip some more and ended up back at Planet Hollywood in Caesar’s Palace.  Matt had to sober up so we could head back to Tracy and Anton’s for dinner.  We shared a sandwich and I enjoyed a couple of more drinks.

I don’t remember too much that happened the rest of the night.  I remember playing a dice game with Tracy, Anton, Gary and Matt…it had something to do with 1’s and 5’s.  Oh and I remember yelling, “Go Anton, it’s your birthday, do a shot” over and over.  It’s something THEY will remember and remind me of the rest of my life!  I’m sure I was annoying, but I think I had fun!
